Poem: (Kid In The City) - Subway on a Saturday

We waited for the #1 Train
On a lovely Saturday morning
To take us on the local lane
To the South Ferry boarding

We hopped on to the #2
Down at Wall Street
To ride up to the Bronx Zoo
To watch the animals eat

We made our way to Train #3
To Times Square-42nd
Then transferred free
To Grand Central station

We had an interesting choice
To take 4, 5 or 6
We smiled at each other
And took #4 for kicks

We got off at Brooklyn Bridge
And wandered City Hall
After a mini break
Decided on #5 after all

Off we went to Brooklyn
To check out Prospect Park
After our wandering
Thought #6 would be a lark

#6 we took on the East line
And looked at the MTA map
Finding out what was fine
Flushing we thought, with a tap

Off we sped on #7
Towards Jackson Heights
After the train rushed thru the tunnel
And we ate some Indian Delights

We knew there was no #8
So we had to skip a number
To make sure we wouldn't be late
Took the next rumbler

We made our way to midtown
And waited for #9
Took it home uptown
To make dinner in time

We tried trains 1 thru 9
It made us happy and gay
Trying A thru W will sure be fine
But that's for another day
