Photo Essay: Through The Looking Glass

I.  Hindi-Cheeni Bhai Bhai

A surprising sculpture in Beijing. It has a resemblance the Hindu Lord Krishna dancing on a Serpent.



II.  Greece - Wonders of the World, the Ancient Edition

The Colossus of Rhodes - this is the place where one of the seven wonders of ancient times where the Colossus was supposed to exist. It is one of the most beautiful seaports. The movie Guns of Navarone was shot here.




III.  Angkor Wat

It is the largest ancient Hindu temple complex in the world built by King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century as his state temple. It was later converted into a Buddhist vihara



IV.  Bali, Indonesia

The dances of south East Asia are slow but very graceful and the ‘mudras’ (poses) have significant cultural and spiritual meaning



V.  Istanbul, Turkey

The blue mosque in Istanbul is one of the most beautiful examples architecture of the Ottoman Empire. The engineering marvel of the domes and the frescos on it are one of the unique structures in the world




VI.  Denmark

The little mermaid is a small but famous bronze statue. It is designed from a popular fairy tale by the Danish poet and author Hans Christian Andersen about a young mermaid willing to give up her life in the sea and her identity as a mermaid to gain a human soul and the love of a human prince





VII.  Kenya, Africa

Safari in Masai Mara game sanctuary is one of the most exciting trips to be had. The wild animals here are so accustomed to tourists that they come and play around the safari vehicles!



VIII.  Spain

On the way from Madrid to Seville, there is a place called Villanueva de Los Infantes where Cervantes wrote the famous Don Quixote. The Don Quixote Museum is an interesting place to visit




IX.  Bangkok, Thailand

The Jade Buddha temple. It is regarded as the most sacred Buddhist temple in Thailand.  It is located in the centre of Bangkok, inside the Grand Palace. The main building houses the statue of Emerald Buddha.  It is interesting that surrounding the temple are statues depicting the Hindu epic Ramayana



X.  Russia

Moscow to Saint Petersburg was an unforgettable journey. The rich and ancient culture and the history of the country is breath taking. The Orthodox Churches here are quite distinct and different from the churches of Western Europe.
