I hope you will agree that 2014 has been off to a blazing start, and here we are at the mid-point of the year already! There have been interesting events, with hits and misses along the way.
Hope you enjoy this list!
Invited Fmr. Senator Bob Kerrey of Nebraska as the key note speaker at a conference we organized on Social Impact Investing in Charlotte.

Was at an event where First Lady Michelle Obama spoke about helping returning Military Veterans re-integrate into civilian society.
Had the opportunity to fly a military helicopter to an incoming US Aircraft carrier and ride back to port in Manhattan. Could not do it due to a prior commitment (this one stings!!).
Heard Hillary Clinton speak on the environment and was given a free copy of her latest book (Hard Choices). Bit of a tome, that. However, she did not answer THE question!

Had an invitation to hear a Supreme Court hearing and then lunch in the senate dining room. Had to miss it since I was making a trip to the UK.
Attended Google Glass Base camp to figure out how this cool new technology might be of use to the Aging segment (in terms of elder care and in terms of navigation).
Listened to Sal Khan speak about how he successfully tutors 10 million students every month.

Had an invitation to attend a G8 (7) session where Prime Minister Cameron was prioritizing Demential research as a key focus area under his leadership. Skipped it, since it was the same day of our son's graduation.

Visited Oxford University this week to participate in a round table of developing a 'Silver Economy
Not knowing that it was 2 hours away from Oxford, I did not budget enough time to visit Cambridge University as well - next time!
